Is a Carpool violation a Point on Your Record or not?

I need a clear answer regarding carpool violations, and if they count as a point on your driving record. ZThe CHP who gave me teh ticket says it does not count as a point, but the ticket that came in the mail sais eleigible for traffic school. I thought that traffic school is to clear up violations that cause point on your record. Because what would be the other point of going paying your fine, going to traffic school, and paying their fine. Wouldn't one just pay the fine itself. I have traffic court tommorow and next month, so and a knowledgable answer would be great.
