(The sims 3) How can I be cheating when my husband is dead?

My sim's husband died awhile ago and I got in a relationship with another sim,but I got the publicly disgraced moodlet from cheating.How am I cheating on a dead sim?! I've never seen his ghost but am I somehow in a relationship with his ghost?? I want to marry this other sim,what can I do?
