What should I do about this guy?

I'm a 16 year old girl, and I'm taking Drivers' Ed this summer. My parents are making me carpool and be driving partners with the son of a family friend, but I hate the guy! He always bullied me when we were kids, and he's still really rude. He somehow manages to make me feel stupid every time I talk to him. He mumbles and thinks there's something wrong with ME if I can't hear him, says bizarre things and expects me to take it as a joke, and quietly insults me when no one's listening.I feel awkward around him, and actually do tend to say stupid things. It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy... It also doesn't help that the guy is a year older and 6 feet tall and probably a better driver. I have to coexist with him for a month... Do you think I should ignore him and only talk to him when I have to (about driving)? Try to say witty things and prove I'm not stupid? Just suck it up and try not to care about him?
