Small claims court how do i go about it?

recently me and my boyfriend had moved in with a friend and her husband, we was going to be roomates while attending college. me and my boyfriend paid half of everything inculding the security deposit to move in and the extra bills (internet) well my friend had invited two other people to live with us without consulting me or my boyfriend. my boyfriend and her husband work at the same place so we would carpool. one day while i was taking them to work a huge argument had started and her husband told us to get our things and move out. technically it was just as much ours as it was theirs being that we paid half of everything to move in me and my boyfriend decided to leave anyway knowing that it was ours also we decided to leave because we knew that staying there would not be an enjoyable home. we paid rent for june $320.00 and they kicked us out on the 7th. she will not give me the $320.00 that we paid for the rent. she isnt saying that i didnt pay it i have a text on my phone frome her that sys "you already paid it!" and i also have a text where i asked her if she was going to pay me and she stated no!. is this worth going to court? is a text considered evidence? would we win?
